Dear East/West Cross Country All-Star,
The Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association is proud to have been able to provide thousands of dollars in scholarships to cross country athletes over the last 15 years. These scholarships are not based on any athletic standards and do NOT jeopardize your NCAA eligibility. You are eligible because you have participated in the sport of cross country during high school and you will be evaluated by your academic performance, need, community service, honors, personal statement and personal letter of recommendation.
Only complete application will be evaluated.
All applications need to be in by June 30th, 2008.

Step 1: Registration / Biographical Questionnaire

Step 2: Essay / Statement
All candidates are required to submit one original essay. Each short essay/statement may be up to 300 words in length.
The 2008 Essay Topic:
What was your favorite memory or learning experience while running cross country?
Step 3: Academic Information
Your counselor/advisor can help you to complete this part. Please send the following with your application. 1) SAT or ACT standardized test scores and 2) high school transcript at least through first semester senior year.
Step 4: Recommendation
You are responsible for ensuring that the WSCCCA East/West scholarship program receives a letter of recommendation: this may be a personal recommendation OR an academic recommendation.
A teacher or advisor who can assess your work should write the academic letter of recommendation. The letter should describe your academic achievement, potential for success, and leadership ability.
An employer, coach, community official, or minister who can comment on your personal attributes and involvement in the community should prepare the personal letter of recommendation. This recommendation should describe your personality, character, and greatest positive qualities.
Step 5: Personal Statement and Future Plans
Please provide WSCCCA East/West scholarship program with a statement outlining your future plans including post high school academic and career dreams. Include any relevant information about why the selection committee should select you over other candidates.
