South Puget Sound Throwers Showcase 2004

Saturday, March 20th

More than 180 throwers competed at the South Puget Sound Throwers Showcase at Olympia HS. The boys showcased three of the best throwers in their respective events, crushing three meet records in process. Olympia's own Pat McCormick displayed his state championship form from a year ago, winning the javelin with a throw of 188' 9". Bainbridge's Matt Wauters and Inglemoor's Nate Rolfe alternated first and second in the shot put and discus. Wauter's put on a throwing diplay, wowing the audience in the shot with a winning throw of 64' 9". Later in the afternoon, Rolfe redeemed himself by launching the discus 197' 10". Wauters and Rolfe shared the Outstanding Male Thrower of the Meet.

Kristen Ellsberg of Skyview, named Outstanding Female Thrower of the Meet, took home the discus title with a throw of 131' 9" and took second in the shot put behind Sammamish Soph Emily Jacobson at 38' 7-1/2". Kristen Berndt of Mt. Si improved in the finals to with the javelin at 122' 8".

Overall it was a great day of throwing and thank you to all that were a part of this very special event.
